dc.description.abstractCognitiveradio(CR)isanintelligentwaytoutilizespectrumresourcesefficiently and smartlytoaccommodatevariousdevicesandusers.Inordertosupportcognitive radio, sophisticatedsolutionsattheradiofrequency(RF)frontendarerequired.A frequency-reconfigurable antennaisonesuchsolutionthatcanenablefasterlearning and fastmaneuverabilityofthespectrum.Further,aMIMOCRantennanotonly helps inefficientlyutilizingtheresourcebutalsoinachievingthemaximuminforma- tion rate. The firstworkpresentsafour-portmultipleinputmultipleoutput(MIMO)antenna designed anddemonstratedforCRapplications.Theproposedgeometryismadeofa single-layerdielectricsubstrate,wheremetallicpatternsandelectroniccomponentsare articulately usedtoexhibitbothCRtechniques(interweaveandunderlay)through three differentworkingstates.en_US
