Tear damage in soybean kernels is a significant post-harvest defect that reduces seed quality. In this study, a fully automated, label-free machine vision pipeline is developed for characterising tear damage in soybean kernels. A dataset consisting of 1412 high-magnification (4.5x) images collected from seven soybean cultivars was developed, covering a diverse spectrum of tear morphologies ranging from short abrasive scratches to large-scale axial and lateral cuts in the seed coat. To isolate...

Soil health and agricultural productivity are severely threatened by agrochemical pollution and heavy metal accumulation. This study aimed to isolate, characterize, and construct a multi-strain Bacillus spp. consortium possessing simultaneous plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) traits, heavy metal tolerance, and pesticide degradation capabilities to serve as a sustainable bioremediation tool. Spore-forming bacteria were isolated from 44 diverse Indian crop rhizosphere soil samples via...

A novel multi-band antenna with an improved higher-order mode radiation pattern based on Characteristic Mode Analysis (CMA) is presented. The tri-band characteristic is achieved by exciting one higher-order mode and two orthogonal modes. The initial orthogonal mode is achieved by converting the antenna from a circular to an elliptical shape. Surface current reshaping transforms the higher-order conical radiation pattern mode into a broadside direction. The surface current nulls with out-of-ph...

Sulfur dioxide (SO2) is a critical pollutant associated with severe respiratory and cardiovascular effects, necessitating continuous monitoring in industrial and environmental settings. Existing analytical systems are accurate but bulky, expensive, and unsuitable for portable real-time operation. Current metal-oxide and 2D material-based sensors still face challenges including limited selectivity, high operating temperatures, and slow sensing kinetics. This work aims to develop a highly selec...

A vortex-assisted dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction based on solidification of a floating organic drop (VA-DLLME-SFOD) coupled with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed for the preconcentration and determination of trace Ni(II) in water and canned-food samples. Ni(II) was complexed with 1-(2-pyridylazo)-2-naphthol (PAN), and the resulting hydrophobic complex was extracted into 1-undecanol. Seven experimental factors were initially screened using a Plackett–Burman d...

This work presents TREA, a low-precision, time-multiplexed, and resource-efficient edge-AI accelerator for object detection and classification, targeting the stringent area-power-latency constraints of edge vision platforms. The proposed architecture integrates a dual-precision (4-/8-bit) quantized SIMD MAC (DQ-MAC) unit based on most-significant-digit-first (MSDF) shift-and-add computation with runtime bit truncation, eliminating conventional multiplier overhead and reducing the accumulator ...

Nowadays, increased environmental pollution h0as become one of the top concerns all over the globe due to its toxicity and hazardous effects on the Earth and ecosystem. The variety of agents from anthropogenic activities causes environmental pollution, such as heavy metals, organic dyes, VOCs, pesticides, etc., and they have potential adverse effects on humans, such as damage to the nervous system, respiratory system, nephrotoxic and oncogenic effects, etc. To overcome all these adverse effec...

The reconfigurable optical interconnects of largescale AI data centers demand nanosecond-scale wavelength agility while operating within milliwatt power budgets. We present a Hybrid Electro-Optic Tunable Multichannel Modulator (HETM), a four-channel graphene electro-optic siliconon-insulator (SOI) microring modulator that treats Q-factor variation as a characterized design constraint, achieving 110 ns switching, greater than 4 nm tuning per channel, 50 GHz ITU-T spacing, and less than 10 mW t...

Integrating diverse optical functionalities, including ultraviolet-visible multispectral and polarization-resolved sensing, offers a pathway toward neuromorphic visual systems that operate beyond human-centric limits. Conventional machine vision systems lack access to additional optical dimensions, such as ultraviolet and polarization, which encode critical information for robust perception in complex environments. However, integrating these functionalities into a single device remains challe...

Service-oriented architectures face a critical challenge in effective web service selection. Within service-oriented architectures, organizations must identify the services that best satisfy the functional and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. Existing methods tend to focus on either service ranking or classification independently, resulting in poor decision making and limited use of services. To bridge the gap, we propose an integrated framework of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and a ...

In this paper, we study the balance functions for pions, kaons, and protons in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV using the Pythia8.3 + Angantyr model. The balance function is evaluated through two-particle azimuthal angular correlations (Δϕ, Δη) between particle and antiparticle. Correlations are constructed for ππ, KK, and pp, and their dependence on collision centrality is investigated. The results indicate that the balance function for pions is narrower compared with kaons and protons. N...

In 1916, Riesz gave an equivalent criterion for the Riemann hypothesis (RH). Inspired from Riesz’s criterion, Hardy and Littlewood showed that RH is equivalent to the following bound: (Formula presented.) Recently, the authors extended the above bound for the generalized Riemann hypothesis for Dirichlet L-functions and gave a conjecture for a class of “nice” L-functions. In this paper, we settle this conjecture. In particular, we give equivalent criteria for the Riemann hypothesis for L-funct...

Antibiotic resistance in Helicobacter pylori is an important factor in the ineffectiveness of eradication regimens. The rate of resistance is not constant and varies widely by region and over time. Resistance is mainly due to point mutations in target genes like 23S rRNA (clarithromycin), gyrA/gyrB (fluoroquinolones), rdxA/frxA (metronidazole), and PBP1 (amoxicillin). Moreover, multi-drug resistance is mediated by efflux proteins (e.g., HefA, RND proteins), biofilm formation, and phase-variab...

This study explores influence of duration of thermal-treatment for tuning structural, magnetic, dielectric response of nano-MgFe2O4 produced via sol-gel-auto-ignition. XRD(X-ray-diffraction) confirms nano-crystalline-spinel-phase growth, grain sizes ranging from 25.3 to 49.3 nm following annealing at 500 °C for 1–3 h. Structural analysis reveals a non-monotonic variation in lattice parameter, and progressive grain growth. Magnetic characterization indicates enhanced A-A, A-B super-exchange-inte...

The quantum interference between discrete phonon modes and the electronic continuum provides a powerful means to understand various physical phenomena, like the electron–phonon coupling in semiconductors at the microscopic level. In this study, multi-layered WS2 flakes grown via chemical vapor deposition have been investigated to establish the actual origin of their low-frequency Raman modes. The longitudinal acoustic or LA phonon mode has been found to exhibit pronounced asymmetric line shap...

This article presents a systematic investigation on the multifaceted characteristics of carbon-integrated nickel oxide (NiO@TC) nanoparticles (NPs) fabricated by Tinospora cordifolia (TC) mediated self-combustion technique and, the findings are fairly compared with bare NiO NPs synthesized via co-precipitation route. TGA/DTA, PXRD, Rietveld, DLS, BET, FTIR, Raman, HRTEM, CHNS, and XPS analyses revealed fabrication of highly stable-mesoporous NiO@TC NPs (∼11 (±3) nm) and bare NiO NPs (∼7 (±1) ...

Water is intrinsically entwined with multiple elements such as energy, food, resource (otherwise waste), greenhouse gas emissions, ecosystem, and land system, which make these complex interdependencies challengeable to manage at different regions and scales. This roadmap charts actionable pathways toward water-positive, waste-zero, and net-zero–aligned water resource management by treating water services as a coupled water–energy–waste–carbon system rather than a stand-alone infrastructure se...
