Series compensated parallel lines connecting solar photovoltaic plants impose unique challenges to non-unit protection. In this paper, for such a line configuration the issues with distance relay at the plant end are analysed. A non-unit protection scheme is proposed as a solution for such lines, where the positive sequence voltage and current are used to identify the faulted line. Effectiveness of the proposed method is verified in PSCAD/EMTDC simulation platform for the solar plant integrated series compensated parallel lines in a 39-bus system considering different fault conditions. Comparative analysis confirms the potentiality of the proposed method. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.en_US
