Abstract: | It is well-known that the presence of noise when occurring oscillatory processes can play both positive and negative role. In the context of bistable dynamical systems, the constructive role of noise is often discussed on examples of stochastic resonance and noise-sustained wavefront propagation observed in a wide spectrum of real-world systems and exhibited by the simplest phenomenological models of bistable oscillators and media. These two effects are widely used in practice, and, for this reason, the issues addressing control of stochastic resonance and wavefront propagation are significant and actual from the point of view of both theoretical and applied science. In the current study, we propose a new approach for controlling stochastic resonance and wavefront propagation in multilayer networks. In particular, we demonstrate that interaction of an one-layer network with another one-layer network through coupling between replica nodes, i.e., multiplexing, allows to control stochastic collective dynamics in multilayer networks associated with stochastic resonance and propagating patterns. © 2023 IEEE. |
