Abstract: The integration of renewable sources with DC smart distribution networks offers several benefits and is a promising avenue for modern green energy infrastructure. In these systems, multiple DC distributed generators (DGs) may be connected in parallel to supply power to local and common DC loads. The non-uniformity in the physical and electrical distances between the sources causes voltage drops, resulting in differences in load power sharing amongst the DGs. To address this issue, the paper suggests the use of a self-adjusting droop control strategy with an improved voltage profile at the load end. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, detailed simulations are conducted using Matlab Simulink. The simulations consider linear and non-linear droop, different ratings of DCDC converters, and different types of DC loads such as constant resistance, constant current, constant power load (CPL), and dynamic (motor) loads. The results obtained from the simulations are presented which demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed control scheme in achieving improved voltage profiles in the network. © 2023 IEEE.
