Backscatter communication and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) are emerging paradigms in wireless communication that offer promising solutions to enhance the spectral efficiency and energy efficiency of energy-constrained devices for 6G and beyond networks. This work introduces a coordinated direct and relay transmission system that leverages NOMA principles and incorporates a backscatter relay. The backscatter relay operates in hybrid mode and incorporates active information reception, passive information transmission through backscatter, and energy harvesting. The poster explores and analyzes the ergodic capacity of backscatter-based NOMA systems, shedding light on the average data rate achievable across diverse and changing conditions. The performance gain of the considered system is observed over the orthogonal multiple access. Finally, the Monte Carlo simulations are employed to validate the accuracy of the theoretical analysis. © 2024 IEEE.en_US
