Abstract: | In the realm of chemical bonding, studying the weak interactions involving transition metal complexes is alluring. As an added bonus, it gives you a virtuous idea of the chemical reactivity of transition metal complexes and sheds light on the factors that affect their structure and behavior. The present perspective delineates the attractive Au···H-N/C/O hydrogen bonds via extensive analysis by combining experimental and computational studies of their bonding situation. We delve into the characteristic properties of Au···H interactions in gold complexes, incorporating the findings from recently synthesized stable organometallic gold(I)/(III) complexes. The literature was examined for illustrations of analogous molecular geometries to draw comparisons between these results. This perspective has covered the maximum examples of Au···H-C, Au···H-N, and Au···H-O hydrogen bonding interactions from the recent literature, which are rarely visible in other reports. This perspective significantly improves our understanding of transition metal-hydrogen bonding (especially gold-hydrogen bonding) and its future applications. © 2024 American Chemical Society. |
