Abstract: | Smart grids integrate traditional electric grid with TCP/IP networks to facilitate control operations and also peer-to-peer energy trading. Energy trading is done with a trading algorithm which matches bids and asks from different participants. In this setup, every participant is a selfish entity trying to maximize its profit and to achieve this, it may use a bidding strategy which takes into account the previous transactions, bidding patterns, and its own actions in the previous rounds. As every participant relays its communications over network, they are susceptible to different cyber attacks. In this paper, we present performance evaluation results of a continuous double auction protocol described for smart grid operation. We evaluate its performance on a publicly available dataset. Our study adopts three commonly used bidding strategies and compare the performance under normal scenario and two different attack (Denial of Service and False Data Injection) cases. We report comparison results using three evaluation metrics namely average trade price, number of trading rounds and total quantum of energy traded to infer that these attacks influence the outcome. © 2024 IEEE. |
