dc.description.abstract | In this paper, a compact high gain in-band full-duplex (IBFD) antenna utilizing an upside-down transmitting and receiving antenna is presented. A V-shaped slot etched on a radiating surface is used to operate at 5.9 GHz, which covers the dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) frequency band (5.85-5.925 GHz). The radiating patches are orthogonally oriented in a vertically-stacked antenna configuration while maintaining a small gap between their ground planes to obtain a large inter-port isolation of 51 dB between the transmitting and receiving system. Each of the antenna element provides a fractional impedance bandwidth (FIBW) of 2.88% from 5.81-5.98 GHz, a peak realized gain of 8 dBi, and a radiation efficiency of 96%. Furthermore, the geometry exhibits a cross-polarization level below -50.4 dB and a front-to-back ratio of 25 dB. The measured responses display a good resemblance with the simulated characteristics, thereby confirming the suitability of the proposed antenna for vehicular communication applications. © 2024 IEEE. | en_US |
