Abstract: This paper examines the intersection of ethnography and technological advancement, focusing on the ways in which technology has transformed the practice of cultural research. Ethnography, as a methodology rooted in anthropology, involves the immersive study of people in their natural environments to understand their culture, behaviors, and social interactions. Over time, technological advancements such as digital recording devices, Internet access, and data analysis software have revolutionized ethnographic research by enhancing data collection, analysis, and dissemination processes. This paper explores the advantages and challenges of integrating technology into ethnographic practice, including increased efficiency, expanded access to remote communities, and new ethical considerations. It concludes by emphasizing the importance of maintaining a critical awareness of technology's impact on ethnographic research and adapting methodologies to leverage technological advancements while upholding ethical standards and preserving the integrity of cultural knowledge. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.
