Abstract: In rural India, drowning incidents in natural water bodies such as lakes and ponds pose significant challenges to timely and efficient rescue operations. Due to the absence of specialized underwater detection technology, the most prevalent method employed involves manually draining the entire water body to retrieve submerged bodies. This practice is highly inefficient, leading to extensive time delays, enormous resource consumption, and severe wastage of water-a critical resource in agrarian communities. This paper proposes a novel, low-cost, and environmentally sustainable solution through the development of a compact, autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV), or miniature submarine, specifically designed for human body detection. The system integrates ultrasonic sensors for depth mapping and obstacle detection, along with a waterproof camera module for visual inspection. Leveraging real-time image processing algorithms, the submarine is capable of identifying human shapes based on captured visual data, even under turbid water conditions.
