Abstract: This thesis investigates the Evolution of precipitates during the thermal aging of IN617 superalloy, a nickel-based alloy extensively used in high-temperature environments such as gas turbines and power plants. The main objective is to understand how different aging conditions influence precipitate formation, microstructure, and mechanical properties, thereby aiding in the optimization of material performance and durability. IN617 samples were subjected to controlled aging treatments at 650°C, 700°C, 750°C, and 800°C for periods ranging from 120 to 5000 hours. Standard metallographic preparation was followed by detailed characterization using optical microscopy, SEM, EDS, and XRD. Microhardness testing was also performed to link microstructural changes with mechanical behavior.
