Abstract: We investigate a Germanium (Ge) based Photoconductive Antenna (PCA) as a Terahertz (THz) detector. The bowtie antenna comprises Sputtered-Ge film and Gold-Germanium (AuGe) electrodes. Time-resolved measurements reveal a carrier lifetime of around ~ 650 fs in the Ge films. The PCA demonstrates a detection bandwidth of up to 1.5 THz with a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of 27 dB. This simple approach paves a path for compact, scalable, and cost-effective THz detectors using Ge film on glass. © 2025 IEEE.
