This study presents a design of high gain dual-polarized wideband antenna by stacking electromagnetically coupled symmetrical quarter sectoral annular patches on top of a differentially fed metallic circular patch. Hexagonal shaped metallic walls are used for mechanical support and to enhance the antenna gain. Multi-resonance of driven and electromagnetically coupled patches provide a wideband and high gain response. Systematic design steps are presented to demonstrate broadband and high gain behavior of the proposed antenna. The antenna is further fed by a wideband feed network to incorporate differential feeding. Radiation characteristics of the designed antenna reflect a stable dual-polarized boresight operation over 54 % bandwidth from 3.08 to 5.37 GHz, peak gain of 11.5 dBi 2 dB variation over bandwidth, back radiation of less than -15 dB in a small antenna profile of 0.16 λ. The designed antenna characteristics of polarization diversity, high gain and wideband operation make it suitable to be utilized for 5 G services in sub-6 GHz band. © 2025 IEEE.en_US
