| dc.description.abstract | Recent advancements in ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) have leveraged the surrounding radio frequency (RF) signals to address low-power communication issues for short packet communication. However, the limited energy available for these devices poses a significant challenge. In this paper, we investigate a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted AmBC system incorporating non-linear energy harvesting for both infinite and finite blocklength transmissions. For infinite blocklength transmissions, we derive expressions for outage probability and average achievable rate. For finite blocklength transmissions, we provide expressions for average decoding error probability, average achievable rate, and system goodput. Monte Carlo simulations validate the accuracy of the analytical results and demonstrate the effect of RIS element allocation, blocklength, and non-linear energy harvesting on system performance. 1967-2012 IEEE. | en_US |
