Abstract: Development of efficient electrocatalysts requires morphological and compositional engineering to provide abundant active sites and enhanced charge-transfer properties. This work focuses on Fe and Co incorporation into NiMoO4 nanostructures to investigate their synergistic effects on morphology and electrochemical performance. When Fe and Co are incorporated together in NiMoO4, it forms grassy weeds-like nanorod architecture. Structural and elemental analysis confirms the successful addition of Fe and Co into NiMoO4 lattice. The Fe-Co incorporated NiMoO4 nanostructures offer advantages for OER, such as rapid electron transport, and higher catalytically active sites. The Fe-Co doped NiMoO4 nanostructures have lower overpotential (260 mV@10 mA cm−2) and Tafel slope (46 mV dec−1) for OER as compared to Fe-NiMoO4, Co-NiMoO4 and NiMoO4 nanostructures. The improved performance is related to the synergistic impact of Fe and Co doping, which improves electrical conductivity, increases active sites, tuned morphology, and optimizes reaction kinetics. © 2026 Published by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC.
