A transition-metal-free, organic dye-catalyzed protocol for C3-alkylation of o -hydroxyphenyl enaminones has been developed using visible light irradiation under mild reaction conditions. This method provides access to C3-alkylated chromones in moderate to good yields. Readily available triazinanes are employed as carbon‑nitrogen (C-N-C) synthons, generating imines in situ that engage in nucleophilic addition with o -hydroxyphenyl enaminones, followed by intramolecular cyclization to furnish C3-aminomethyl chromones. Operational simplicity, green solvent, ambient conditions and good substrate scope are a few advantages of the developed strategy. Copyright © 2026. Published by Elsevier Ltd.en_US
