In this project work, the focus has been given to synthesize zinc luminescent complexes, and to use these complexes for biological application. A Schiff base ligand 4-chloro-2-((3- (dimethylamino)-2,2dimethylpropylimino) methyl)phenol](HL) has been synthesized and utilized to obtain; two zinc complexes viz. LC1 and LC2. The synthesized ligand and complexes are characterized by ESI-MS, NMR and IR, UV spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy. Theligand shows very weak fluorescence due to photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from donor to acceptor, isomerization of C=N, and also due to hydrogen bonding between proton of hydroxy group and C=N. These processes are inhibited or perturbed by presence of zinc (Zn+2) ions and due to these, complexes are fond to be fluorescent in nature. Furthermore, protein binding ability of the complexes has been explored using quenching of emission spectra of protein Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) and Human Serum Albumin (HSA).en_US
