Wave interaction with a circular elastic porous plate, floating in a two-layer fluid is investigated under the linearized theory of water waves. The eigenfunction expansion method—along with the Darcy’s law for wave past porous structure under the assumption that the flexible structure is having fine pores and is of homogeneous structural rigidity—is exploited to obtain an analytic solution of the problem. The plate deflection and flow distribution around the plate are further computed to study the effects of various wave and structural parameters. The study reveals that the porosity of the plate renders major part of the wave energy to dissipate. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.en_US
