Effect of solvents on structural, morphological and optical properties of solvothermally grown Cu2FeSnS4 particles

Abstract

Copper iron tin sulfide particles are synthesized using solvothermal methods; the grown particles are having stannite structure of Cu2FeSnS4 (CFTS). The effect of different solvent on morphological, structural/elemental composition, phase and optical properties are investigated. In solvothermal growth, all precursors are same but different solvent such as oleyl amine (OLA), deionized water (DI), ethylenediamine (EDA), N, N-dimethyl formamide (DMF) are used. The synthesized CFTS structures are having phase purity that confirmed by XRD analysis, morphology of CFTS particles confirmed by FEG-SEM analysis. The pure crystalline phase formed after annealing the CFTS particles at 450°C for 30min. Distinct morphologies including flower, larger grain structure, aggregate particles and agglomerated particles are observed when different solvents are used. The bandgap of CFTS particles is also varies from 1.43eV to 1.7eV. © 2019 Author(s).
