Abstract: | Nanoscience has emerged as an important area of research in catalysis for both academic, scientific, as well as industrial production. Traditional homogeneous catalytic systems have received significant attention due to the molecular-level analysis of their catalytic activity and the excellent homogeneity of catalysts and reactants. However, removal of homogeneous catalysts from the reaction medium without contamination of the target products requires a tedious purification procedure. With the advancement of ecological and economical demands toward sustainable chemical synthesis, the recovery and reuse of catalysts have been important factors. Toward this drive, various heterogeneous catalytic systems, including mesoporous materials, organometallics, solid catalysts, noble-metal nanoparticles, etc., have been developed for photochemical and electrochemical catalysis, environmental remediation, as well as a catalyst for important chemical transformations. In this chapter we review the continuous progress and application of heterogeneous systems based on carbon nanomaterials for various catalytic applications. © 2019 Elsevier Inc.
