Abstract: Tin oxide (SnO2) flowers were synthesized by hydrothermal method using SnCl2.H2O as precursor. The formation/phase purity of the hydrothermally grown SnO2 flowers was determined by PXRD analysis. The morphological surface structure of SnO2 flowers was checked by SEM analysis whereas the surface area was examined by BET analysis. Further, SnO2 flowers were deposited on the neat and clean surface of the glassy carbon electrode using drop casting method. This constructed electrode was employed for simultaneous sensing of catechol and hydroquinone using cyclic and square wave voltammetry. The fabricated electrode exhibited good limit of detection of 3.74 μM and 1.12 μM toward catechol and hydroquinone sensing respectively. Moreover, this SnO2 flowers modified glassy carbon electrode also shown good selectivity, repeatability and stability for the simultaneous determination of catechol and hydroquinone. © 2019 The Electrochemical Society.
