Abstract: | We present data analysis, up to imaging, of 2.1 GHz observations of the Bullet cluster, that were done using the Austalia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) – this is archival data. We focus on diffuse radio emission in the cluster of galaxies particular in the Bullet cluster. Radio observations have shown that the intracluster medium is mixed with non thermal component (highly relativistic charge particles electrons and large-scale magnetic fields which are measured through synchrotron emission). We discuss diffuse and extended regions of radio emission in galaxy clusters which includes large extended regions in the centre of galaxy clusters called radio halos and diffuse extended region in peripheral regions of galaxy clusters, called radio relics. Radio halo may be as extended as x-ray emission in the direction of cluster merger but less extended than x ray emission in the direction perpendicular to the merger axis. Evidence of large scale intracluster magnetic fields and significant densities of relativistic electrons which exhibits synchrotron radiation and non thermal phenomenon in galaxy clusters is also discussed. We discuss a portion of the physics behind on radio emission process in this galaxy cluster. |
