| Abstract: | This chapter presents a comprehensive overview of the solar photovoltaic (PV) systems in India. The historical development of solar PV technologies, policies, institutions, and various government schemes are presented in detail. The feasibility, resource requirements for achieving the goals for solar PV systems are presented. The success and challenges facing this sector are discussed in detail.
