Abstract: The present work of the thesis centers round our interest in exploring the structural and functional properties of Schiff base complexes. Herein, Five new dinuclear and two new trinuclear metal Schiff base tetrazolato complexes have been synthesized and reported from two Schiff base ligands H3L1 (H3L1= 2,2´-((1E,1´E)-((2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(azanylylidene)bis(methanylylidene))diphenol) and H3L2 (H3L2=2,2´-((1E,1´E)-((2-hydroxypropane-1,3-diyl)bis(azanylylidene))bis(methanylylidene))bis(4-chlorophenol). Four of the synthesized complexes are made of nickel (complex 1, complex 4 ,complex 6 and complex 7), one is copper complex (complex 2).and rest two are cobalt complexes (complex 3 and complex 5). All the metal complexes are characterized by ESI-MS and elemental analyses. X-ray crystallography studies of complex 6 reveal an octahedral geometry. All the complexes were screened for protein binding and cytotoxicity studies. The interaction of all the metal complexes with proteins (BSA and HSA) has also been studied to establish its probable role as drug molecule. Cytotoxicity assay was performed for entire metal complexes on the cancer cell lines A549 and MCF7 using MTT dye.
