Abstract: | Household appliances can contribute to the overall environmental noise in our daily lives. While they may not reach the same levels as occupational noise in industrial settings, prolonged exposure to certain household appliance noises can still have an impact on our well-being. Common household appliances that can generate noise include refrigerators, mixer/grinder, air conditioners, dishwashers, washing machines, vacuum cleaners, blenders, and hairdryers, among others. The specific noise levels produced by these appliances can vary depending on factors such as their design, age, and maintenance. The mixer/grinder is known to be one of the noisiest household appliances. When it operates while you're enjoying your favourite TV show, you can easily understand the impact it has on your overall experience. Despite the convenience it offers in reducing human efforts, the noise generated by the mixer can be quite disruptive. It becomes the responsibility of designers to prioritize reducing the noise levels of such appliances. |
