Abstract: Herein we report, the synthesis of single-atom iron on nitrogen-doped carbon as a catalyst for the direct formation of Csp3−S bond via borrowing hydrogen strategy using alcohols as the alkylating agent. The catalyst was synthesized by encapsulating ferrocene within the ZIF-8 framework, followed by pyrolysis and characterized precisely by FE-SEM, HR-TEM, XPS, Raman, XRD and EXAFS. The catalyst is robust, displayed an excellent reactivity in borrowing hydrogen reaction and could be recycled five times without any appreciable loss in activity. © 2024 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
