Abstract: In recent years, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have shown their tremendous potential in the field of materials science. Along with various applications, CNTs are explored for sensing technology. Among these, electronic noses are receiving more attention due to their application in various commercial sectors like the food, medical, and pharma industries, military, cosmetics, environmental and biological areas. Recently, CNTs have proven its applicability in the electronic nose field. Its higher conductivity, mechanical and thermal stability of CNTs enhance the functionality of the electronic nose. In the present work, recent studies on CNT-based electronic noses are comparably summarized. Also, the developments in some CNT-based composite materials for electronic noses are reviewed. Finally, the challenges and future perspectives are discussed to comprehend the operational utilization of CNT-based materials. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
