Abstract: | This book chapter presents comprehensive information on frequency-selective surface (FSS) and its applications in radome technology. An FSS is a periodic arrangement of metallic patterns printed on dielectric substrates, and based on their design topologies as well as material properties, different applications have been explored in the commercial and defense sectors. Radome is a structural enclosure earlier used for the protection of electronic equipment. However, with the advent of time, various features have been incorporated in radome designs by exploiting the FSS concept. This book chapter summarizes brief information about the FSS-based radome and its operating mechanism, focusing on the microwave frequency range. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024. |
