| Abstract: | nfrastructure development is essential to facilitate a country's economic development and reduce poverty. However, decisions made on the scale and type of infrastructure may lead to environmental problems. With the threat that climate change may pose for all kinds of infrastructures, development of sustainable infrastructure is the need of the hour. This chapter presents a brief background to sustainable infrastructure with some case studies spanning sustainable infrastructure underlining the importance of the nexus. It also presents some of the mitigation approaches and opportunities that can alleviate environmental issues while meeting the world's demand. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd. All rights reserved. |
