Abstract: Thermal management of mission critical equipment remain a big challenge in today’s world. The applications range from computation heavy chipset to solar panel to solar heater, construction materials. The impact of poor thermal management of these equipment not only results in failure but also significant amount resource waste. Successful engineering of nanomaterials provides a sustainable way of managing thermal demand. The impact of poor thermal management results from energy loss in residential and commercial buildings to microelectronics and poor performance of renewable energy sources (namely- solar), which in turn results in cascade of unsustainable energy demand. In this book article, a brief overview of different nanomaterials and their successful applications in thermal management will be provided. For the sake of brevity and clarity, the discussion will be limited to three specific types of nanomaterials- thermal interface materials (TIMs), phase change materials (PCMs) and nanofiber materials for liquid-vapor phase change heat transfer. © 2020 Elsevier Inc.
