Abstract: Crop monitoring has its importance in planing the food security of a country. India being the second largest producer of wheat globally needs more advancement in wheat monitoring. Wheat being a rabi crop has advantage of sufficient optical data for its monitoring, the phenological, structural monitoring uses SAR data. This study has detected the booting stage and riping stage of wheat using SAR derived vegetation index DpRVI (Dual polarimetric RADAR Vegetation Index) with mean 0.42 ± 0.05 and 0.49 ± 0.1 respectively. The sharpe dip in the NDVI curve indicates the flowering stage with mean 0.38 ± 0.02. The fusion of optical and SAR data identifies different phenological stages of wheat crop. © 2024 IEEE.
