dc.description.abstractThe advancement of efficient materials in the detection of toxic gases and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is crucial for both environmental protection and public health. The sensing materials could be useful in monitoring air quality, managing industrial processes, ensuring food safety, and facilitating the early diagnosis of some diseases. In this context, organic-inorganic frameworks, comprising metal nodes (ions or clusters) and organic linkers, have emerged as strong candidates for high-performance sensing applications. These frameworks offer significant advantages, such as large surface areas, tunable pore size, and functionalisable active sites, which make them particularly well-suited for detecting various gases and VOCs. Additionally, their intrinsic properties, including electrical conductivity, luminescence, and chromism, further enhance their utility in advanced sensor technologies. The high porosity of these frameworks enables strong interactions with analytes, leading to observable and measurable responses when exposed to gases and VOCs.en_US
