| Abstract: | Nowadays lithium battery are commonly uses in various application like electric vehicles, battery energy storage system, portable electronic devices like laptop, mobile, digital camera, digital glucometers and pulse Oximeters etc. After recognizing the importance of Li-ion and their relatively high cost so this paper focuses on the development of Lithium-ion battery emulator. Battery Emulator (BE) is a specialized tool which work exactly like a real battery in real-time. It can mimic the electrical behavior of battery like power, voltage, current, capacity, and transient dynamics. The focus of this work is to choose a suitable battery models as well as power converters topologies and their control technique then implement it. This paper first discusses, the motivation behind to chosen of Li-ion battery, following with details technical background of battery technology. After then a literature review of diverse battery modeling approach. The proposed battery emulator based on single phase active rectifier and bi-directional dc-dc converter along with 2-RC ECM battery model, that will capable of delivering both static and dynamic responses. A MATLAB /Simulation of a Lithium-ion BE is proposed that can both give and take power. It acts like a real battery during charging (sink) and discharging (source) cycles." These types of devices play an important role to enhance the test of many applications like electric vehicles (EV), battery management systems (BMS), and battery energy storage system (BESS). Instead of the testing with real batteries, testing with this device allows reduces the cost, time, complexity and increase testing efficiency. It provides safety and repeatable platform for testing purpose. It can replace a real lithium ion battery in both research and industry related applications. |
