Abstract: | The chapter starts with an overview of the energy storage devices, and the basics of batteries. It focuses on components, working principles, design, application, and shortcomings associated with the batteries. Additionally, the lithium battery (LB), which is the prime focus of this thesis, is introduced. It covers the chemistry related to the electrodes and the electrolyte. This chapter also summarizes the challenge associated with lithium batteries and the recommended solutions to overcome these obstacles. The chapter sheds light on the central part of the thesis i.e., solid electrolytes. Finally, a study on the ionic conduction phenomenon in solid electrolyte materials is discussed in detail. |
