Abstract: Over the last decades, design and synthesis of metal−tetrazole complexes (MTCs) have aroused considerable attention, emerging not only from their potential applications in many areas but also as a result of their chemical and structural diversities. It has gained significant attention of the scientific community due to their applications as energetic materials, ligands in coordination chemistry, intermediates in organic synthesis, and drugs in pharmaceuticals. A tetrazole is a five membered ring containing four nitrogen and one carbon atom (Figure 1). Due to its energetic potential and structural similarity to carboxylic acids, this ring system has a wide number of applications. In this thesis, a sustainable process to produce metal-tetrazolato complexes has been employed that achieved high yields under relatively milder conditions. Synthesized complexes have shown interesting properties in terms of geometrical isomerism, magnetism, interaction with biomolecules and bioinspired catalysis.
