Abstract: Waste rubber tyres in crumb aggregate form have been extensively studied (mechanical and durability performance) to produce reinforced structural elements. Rubber powder (incinerated tyres) and rubber fibers (shredded tyres) are two different forms of aggregate that require similar durability based evaluations for structural applications. Hence in this study, the durability of waste rubber powder and hybrid (rubber powder and rubber fibres) concrete against harmful environmental conditions was observed. The results showed that despite showing good resistance against acid attack and chloride ion diffusion, the rebar embedded in rubberised concrete was highly prone to corrosion as compared to the rebar in the control concrete. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
