Abstract: | Gears are used to transmit power and motion from one shaft to another under varying speeds and loads. In many applications, metal gears have been replaced by polymer-based gears. Polymer gears possess some unique properties over metal gears, such as self - lubrication, less weight, and low noise emission. In this study, vibration signal based statistical features such as crest factor, RMS, impulse indicator, and kurtosis of heathy and faulty gears has been compared for fault detection. The proposed method is found to be successfully detecting the fault. © 2021 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. |
