Abstract: We summarized the synthesis of heterocycles e.g., oxygen-, nitrogen-, sulfur-, and phosphorous-based complexes, using metal-carbonyls. Metal-carbonyls not only can have utilized as a convenient solid source of the CO, but also increase the efficacy of traditional non catalyzed transformations, e.g., cycloaddition reactions, Michael addition reactions, aza-Pauson-Khand-type reaction, and other important reactions. Additionally, metal-carbonyls are allowed to catalyze a variety of reactions, such as, reductive aminations, cross coupling reactions, electrocyclization, and C[sbnd]H activation. © 2020 Elsevier Inc.
