Bis[2-(2-hy-droxy-meth-yl)pyridine-k2N,O](pivalato-O)copper(II)

Abstract

The structure of the centrosymmetric title complex, [Cu(C5H 9O2)2(C6H7NO) 2], has the CuII atom on a centre of inversion. The CuII atom is six-coordinate with a distorted octa-hedral geometry, defined by the N and O atoms of the chelating 2-(2-hydroxymethyl)pyridine ligands and two carboxyl-ate O atoms from two monodentate pivalate ions. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯O and intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-actions.
