Abstract: | Acoustic emission (AE) is a non- destructive testing for the condition monitoring of rotating machines such as gearboxes. The fault on the gear tooth may be identified with this technique. In this work, the AE is assessed to identify the presence of the crack at the root of gear tooth. Experimental investigation was performed on the IAE gear lubrication testing machine. Results obtained from these testing shows the parameter of the AE event, AE rms, changes at the different load condition for healthy as well as cracked gear. It was postulated that AE technique is capable to diagnosis the crack in the gear tooth at different load condition. Hence, AE technique has significant potential for the evaluation of condition of gearbox. © 2017 The Authors. |
